In many families, one person knows everything.

Not because everyone else doesn’t care, and not because they won’t help. Family information just builds up unevenly. One person reads the school emails, remembers the club has changed venue, knows which kit is needed and keeps track of what still needs sorting.

So helping usually starts by asking that person another question.

Running a family creates a surprising amount of invisible operational work.

FamilyStatus started from that observation. Calendars are good at appointments. They don’t tell you:

• what needs preparing;
• whether anybody has taken it on;
• whether it has actually been done;
• what school has changed;
• whether today’s plan actually works.

FamilyStatus is being built around that gap.

Built from real family life

FamilyStatus hasn’t come from a productivity workflow imagined on a whiteboard. It has been developed day to day with a real, busy household — school runs, clubs, two homes, work weeks that don’t stay the same — and shaped by what actually helped.

The best sign it was working wasn’t a fuller calendar. It was the questions changing: fewer “what day does he need his PE kit?”, more “I can see you’re at the office Thursday — shall I pick the girls up?”

What we’re aiming for

The aim isn’t to turn family life into project management. It’s the opposite: to quietly handle enough of the coordination that families spend less time administering themselves — so the family can work together without one person having to hold it all together.

Where it is now

FamilyStatus is early and in private testing. We’re deliberately taking it slowly, because family information is personal and the privacy and security work matters as much as the features. You can read what that means on our privacy page.
